Description

In September 1926, a gramophone apparatus from Berlin was used in Chur to record the German, Romansh and Italian dialects of over 40 villages in Grisons on wax discs. This publication contains the Romansh texts with Standard German translations, accompanied by the restored original recordings on audio CD of the dialects of Rueras, Breil/Brigels, Vrin, Domat/Ems, Bonaduz, Sarn, Scharans, Maton, Calantgil/Innerferrera, Vaz/Obervaz, Alvagni/Alvaneu, Mon, Savognin, Marmorera, Bravuogn/Bergün, Schlarigna/Celerina, Zuoz, Zernez, Valchava, Scuol and Vnà.

«Bunga sera Gieri, co ca Vus mas onc en Vos vegls onns a culm?» Senza rispunder sin mia damonda gi’l: «Co lascas ti buob nausch star qua sur notg en aschi ing liac nua ch’igl é daventau aschi caussas sgarschevlas?» Cartend ch’el fetschi me tumadads, entscheiv’el a raquintar la suandonta hi­ storia.

Standard German translation

«Guten Abend Gieri, wie kommt es, dass Ihr noch in alten Tagen auf das Maiensäss geht?» Ohne auf meine Frage zu antworten, sagte er: «Wie wagst du es, böser Bursche, hier zu übernachten? An einem Ort, wo so schreckliche Dinge gesche­hen sind?» Da ich glaubte, er mache nur Spass, begann er folgende Geschichte zu erzählen.
